The Cherokee Nation has sued the US over the Indian Child Welfare Act, saying that it discriminates againstNative children by placing them in a “disfavoured position”, depriving them of a placement decision based on their best interests. The Indian Child Welfare Act makes it harder for Native children to be adopted into stable, loving homes.
