The Moscow Police Department said in a news release that the bodies of four people were discovered on Sunday after officers responded to an unconscious person call.

The deaths are known as suspected homicides, which often means the death of a single person by another, though it’s not necessarily a crime.

Authorities did not release additional details, including the cause of death. Once the family were aware of the deaths, more information would be shared.

The University of Idaho president said in a statement posted to Facebook that it was with deep sadness that he shared the news of the death of four students living out of state. “Out of respect for these fellow Vandals, classes statewide and online are canceled Monday, Nov. 14.”

The university said that students would have the option of getting help at the counseling center as well as employees can get help through an assistance program. If people were worried about their colleagues, Green urged them to reach out.

Shortly after the discovery of the bodies, the university issued a shelter in place order for the students until investigators could rule out an active threat to the region.

Three football players were killed and two more people were injured following a shooting at the University of Virginia on late Sunday night, campus police and university president Jim Ryan confirmed early Monday.

Police said the suspect, Chris Darnell Jones, was apprehended on Monday morning after a manhunt that lasted more than 12 hours and involved multiple law enforcement agencies, according to UVA Emergency Management.

The university president said in a press conference the shooting happened on a charter bus full of students returning from a field trip.

The three victims, Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis Jr. and D’Sean Perry, were all students of the university and members of the football team. Police say they were found dead at the scene.

“This tragedy serves as a sobering reminder that senseless acts of violence can occur anywhere, at any time, and we are not immune from such events here in our community,” the mayor said. “Today, we grieve for those were lost and those they leave behind. Let us come together in support of each other, and be there for each other, as we mourn as a community.”

Public transportation routes were suspended on Monday and classes and activities were canceled. Public schools in the surrounding Albemarle County were also closed for the day.

Jones will be charged with three counts of second degree murder and three counts of use of a handgun to commit a felony. The university did not provide information on where Jones was arrested.

Jones was listed on the website as a football player, but he didn’t play in any games.
