According to the Anti-Defamation League, the phrase first appeared in 2015 as a racist response to the Black Lives Matter movement. The stunt started a backlash and eventually resulted in a two-part interview with Tucker Carlson of Fox News.
Ye’s other highly popular and profitable fashion partnership with Adidas is also now currently “under review” following Ye’s stunt at Paris Fashion Week.

When West was involved in a controversy, Chappelle usually approaches him, but he waited to observe the response to West’s antisemitic statements. Chappelle also said that the NBA star was in trouble after sharing a link to an antisemitic movie on social media.

He also joked about Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving, who was suspended after posting a link to an antisemitic film, called Hebrew to Negroes: Wake Up Black America, that asserts the Holocaust never happened. Chappelle noted Irving’s “Black a– was nowhere near the Holocaust.”
Another bit featuring white anchors joking with a Black blues artist about the title of his album Potato Hole – until he tells them it was a crevice enslaved people dug to hide their most valued possessions from plantation owners – also scored. Chappelle chose a different path, which let us all down in the process, and he had already thrown me off balance.
“We shouldn’t expect @DaveChappelle to serve as society’s moral compass, but disturbing to see @nbcsnl not just normalize but popularize #antisemitism,” Greenblatt tweeted. “Why are Jewish sensitivities denied or diminished at almost every turn? Why does our trauma trigger applause?”
