A Favorite Pet Supplies for the Home-Announcement of a Pet or a Fleeing Bully — Testimonial Results

Cats are beautiful, interesting, weird creatures. If you’re lucky enough to be loved by one, it’s your God-given responsibility to give them a comfortable and fun home. We wrote about the supplies you should get if you recently adopted a pet, but once you have that pet situated at home, you’ll want to create a healthy, welcoming space for them. Cats require a specific type of environment to play, scratch, and relax.

Here are our favorite products based on months of testing with our own cats. Even if our pets don’t like the product, we still look at the construction, design, and value to see if it may work for other cats. You may have to search for the right fit because felines can be difficult to find.

Pet products aren’t nice to look at. Plastic toys and carpets don’t fit in with the decor. They’re often cheap to make. If anything is uglier than a cat tree, it’s a cat tree that’s raggedy and falling apart.

A good place for your cats to go to the bathroom, fresh food and water, and a lot of love is what your cats need. They don’t need a $600 litter box enclosure.

Cats are notorious for playing with the packaging the very expensive item came in instead of actually using that very expensive item. If your cats only want the balled-up tissues that my cats love, give those trash goblins what they want. It’s a great place to start if you want to change up your space.

The Best Furniture for Your Pets: A Conversation With Russell Hartstein, Manager of Fun Paw Care, About the Design of Tuft and Paw

For a more definitive list of what your pets might need, check out our guide to the Best Pet Supplies. We also have guides to the Best Vet Telemedicine and the Best Pet Cameras.

I spoke with Russell Hartstein, animal behaviorist and founder of the Los Angeles dog training facility Fun Paw Care. He pointed out that some furniture, whether cheap or expensive, could potentially be held together with toxic materials like formaldehyde glue. When possible, I asked the companies to provide responses to confirm the materials used.

If you want to get something that looks good, then you don’t have to spend a lot of money. My cats lounge on Catit’s small Vesper Box ($70) while I work (I keep it next to my desk). There is a middle seat with a toy and a top bed. Furry pads that connect to each other are on all three levels. There are several different colors to choose from.

The Vesper furniture is made from fibreboard with a laminate finish. My cats have been using it since 2020 without anything degrading. Replacement parts are available to prolong the furniture’s life. Catit is a well-liked brand, and I have used a lot of things from it. It also offers a 30-day return window if you cat ends up not liking it, and you can find products at Chewy and Amazon too.

Catit assured me that all the furniture is made out of toxin free materials and that it follows the standards set by the EPA.

It is unbelievably cute to see my little cat Eely poke her head out if I happen to disturb her slumber. The panels have wood veneer on one end and grey felt on the other. I set it up with the felt on the outside, but you can put it together the other way too. The top and bottom are completely open, and a super plush pillow acts as a nice bed. I’d crawl into this if I could fit. Tuft and Paw is also a Title VI compliant entity, just like Catit.

Tuft and Paw products are stunning and we recommend a few here. You would have to spend a lot of money to outfit your entire cat home with Tuft and Paw. The brand emphasizes its dedication to crafting high-quality products, working with cat behaviorists to help design each of its items. Designers start with an idea and then figure out a few options. Behaviorists are consulted throughout the rest of the process. Jackson Cunningham, founder of the Happy Camper Bed, said that after discussion with a behaviorist, they added a second opening hole and made the top open for cats.
