Alcoholic beverages are allowed in carry-on luggage as long as they’re less than 3.4 ounces. The bottles of booze must be able to fit into a quart-sized bag. Travelers can’t consume alcohol on board an aircraft unless a flight attendant serves it, and the FAA forbids travelers from drinking on board if they don’t have a flight attendant. You can only bring alcohol in your carry-on bag, but it cannot be consumed on the plane.

Baby food, baby formula, breast milk and juice are all allowed in reasonable quantities. Formula, breast milk and juice should be screened separately from your bag. Additionally, ice packs, freezer packs, frozen gel packs and other accessories required to cool formula, breast milk and juice are allowed in your carry-on. Baby carriers and child car seats can be added if they fit in the airplane’s overhead bin or underneath your seat.

If they don’t surpass the 3.4-ounce liquid limit, cooked meat, seafood, vegetables and other prepared meals and dishes are allowed. If you’re flying from Hawaii, Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands, note that most raw vegetables are not allowed into the U.S. mainland due to the risk of spreading invasive plant pests.

There are disposable razors in carry-on luggage. There are razor blades that are not in a cartridge that are not allowed in carry-on luggage.

Most personal electronics, such as hair care products or handheld devices, are permitted in carry-on bags. There are adult toys in luggage.

Flammable or explosive material such as fireworks, flares and replicas of explosive materials are strictly prohibited not just from hand luggage but also from checked baggage.

Power banks and portable chargers are only permitted in carry-on luggage. They must have a rating of 100 watt hours per battery. If your airline approves, you can bring two larger spare batteries.

Certain large sporting goods and equipment, such as golf clubs or hockey sticks, are not allowed in carry-on luggage. Smaller sporting goods, such as basketballs, soccer balls and other smaller items, are typically allowed.
