There were five lessons from the Michigan governor debate tonight.

Whitmer’s abortion-rights issues, the state of Michigan, and her Republican challenger, Dixon, are the key issues on abortion rights

Michigan Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said in a debate Thursday night that voters “cannot trust” her Republican challenger, Tudor Dixon, to respect the outcome of a state referendum on abortion rights, because Dixon has not accepted the outcome of the 2020 election.

A state where Republicans control the Legislature is where Whitmer has put her support for abortion rights at the center of her campaign. She has talked about her efforts to increase funding for schools.

The winner of the GOP nomination after an endorsement from former President Donald Trump criticized the policies of his opponent, the lady who was elected as Michigan’s governor. She proposed a policy that would ban trans girls from competing in sports with the gender they identify with as well as one modeled after the controversial measure Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law earlier this year.

The governor’s race has centered on the stark differences between the two candidates on abortion rights, and the differing opinions of Whitmer and Dixon was one of the main points of discussion.

“I am pro-life with exceptions for the life of the mother. But I understand that this is going to be decided by the people of the state of Michigan or by a judge,” Dixon said. “The governor doesn’t have the choice to go around a judge or a constitutional amendment.”

A 14-year-old child who is raped by a family member shouldn’t be allowed to have an abortion, according to the comments of a woman in a recent interview.

“If I could go back in time with the knowledge we have now, sure, I would have made some different decisions. But we were working in the middle of a crisis and lives were on the line,” she said.

The Michigan Governor’s Debate: Why We Shouldn’t Have to Deal with the Gas and Electric Boundaries Problems during the Great Depression

Whitmer said 35,000 people in Michigan died during the pandemic. They might not matter to some. But they don’t matter to me.

The gas tax in Michigan would be raised 45 cents per gallon to pay for the road improvements.

Dixon said Whitmer “didn’t fulfill her promise,” citing a report by the Michigan Transportation Asset Management Council warning that roads are continuing to deteriorate.

Whitmer touted a bonding program and measures approved by the legislature that she said amount to $4.8 billion in transportation funding. She said Biden and the Democratic led Congress gave them billions for the infrastructure bill.

“We will have to find a way to fund the roads. It’s going to take public-private partnerships in the future. She said that it will be a ways out, because the entire country is not going to go to EV vehicles overnight.

Dixon, acknowledging that a shift to electric vehicles will over time reduce gas tax revenue, said Michigan will need to pursue “public-private partnerships” to fund road construction. She didn’t say what those would be, but they typically involve tolls.

Tudor Dixon’s Civil War Monologue on Real America’s Voice: How Democratic Candidates voted to End the U.S. Civil War

“This idea that you’re going to take guns away from law-abiding citizens and somehow that’s going to keep them out of the hands of criminals? That is never going to work, that is what I think. Someone that commits a gun crime needs to be put away.

The Republican gubernatorial nominee in Michigan invoked a conspiracy that the Covid-19 pandemic and protests in the summer of 2020 after the killing of George Floyd were part of a decades-long plan by the Democratic Party to “topple” the United States as retaliation for losing the US Civil War, adding that the party wanted to enslave people “again.”

TudorDixon, a former TV news anchor, made the remarks on the far-right streaming news network Real America’s Voice in June 2020.

During the beginning of the show, he said Democrats were trying topple him after the creation of the Black House Area outside of the White House.

The Democratic Party was divided on the issue of slavery as some wanted to expand it in the western part of the country while others wanted to leave it alone in the new territories. Lincoln was elected President in the 1860 election because of the divide.

More than 100 years later, however, after the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Democratic Party lost more and more southern White voters to Republicans, who adopted the mantra of state’s rights and the “Southern strategy” to appeal to conservative White voters.

The Democrats sat back in their designer suits, eating their fish with their sauce and watching the country rip itself apart because they were getting it all back, the slaves again. This time they would be people of all colors looking for help, and begging for it. Next, they’ll take your guns, your speech, and your God.

CNN asked about these comments from the Dixon campaign. The comments were not addressed by the campaign, but rather CNN was rushing to the aid of the candidate. The campaign did not respond to CNN’s follow up question, “Do you know who wrote the Civil War monologue?”

Her education platform supports pushing parents’ rights and admonishing teachers for choosing school curriculum she does not agree with.

The Next Step to Socialism: What is it Like to Be a School Nurse? When is the Government Providing Everything for You?

“It could be a school nurse that would be giving somebody an abortion without a parent’s consent,” said Dixon in a July 2022 interview with a local TV network. A healthcare professional is able to perform an abortion. She said in a different interview that the term was open-ended. “So it could be anybody, it could be a school nurse.” Dixon made similar claims on a Michigan Radio morning show this past July.

It’s not allowed for schools to discuss abortions in Michigan, and teachers and staff can be reprimanded if they help students get an abortion.

“Equity means the government is gonna provide everything for you,” she said. “So you are teaching children everybody should be equal. That is the next step to socialism, because what they’re saying is that government should be providing everything for you, and you should all be equally poor.”

For a long time, they have rewritten history. Republicans aren’t in our schools. It’s not Republicans running the unions, and it’s not Republicans writing the curriculum for our children. No, it’s Democrats,” she said, adding that the exclusion of Black Wall Street and the Tulsa race massacre in 1921 from school curriculums was because Democrats control curriculums. They do not want you to know the true history.
